European cities are at a crossroads. Growing data volumes, strict privacy regulations, limited budgets, and rising demands for sustainable transport are creating unprecedented challenges for urban mobility management.
But EMERALDS is drawing a path forward, and needs your expertise to refine it.
The EMERALDS project has spent years developing and testing practical solutions for real-time mobility analytics in cities across Europe.
Through deployments in The Hague, Rotterdam, Riga, and York, the project's pilot cities, it has been proven that cities can achieve crowd forecasting, traffic monitoring, and public transport optimisation without expensive infrastructure overhauls or specialised technical teams.
Now, we are taking the next critical step: translating these lessons into actionable policy recommendations.
The policy brief "Turning Urban Mobility Data into Real-Time Decision Power: Policy Lessons from EMERALDS" synthesises key insights and presents concrete pathways for cities ready to embrace evidence-based mobility management.
But we cannot do this alone.
Whether you are a citizen concerned about privacy and quality of life, a transport operator facing deployment challenges, a technology provider working to integrate solutions, a local official facing policy barriers, or a researcher identifying gaps, your point of view is essential.
We are asking three things:
- Read the policy brief and explore our findings from city deployments and EMERALDS perspectives.
- Share your insights through our public consultation. Comment on specific recommendations, suggest improvements, or propose alternatives.
- Endorse the brief if you or your organisation support evidence-based urban mobility policy.
Your contributions will help ensure our recommendations remain grounded, relevant, and forward-looking.
Together, we can build cleaner, greener, more efficient cities that work for everyone.
