Spatial Data Science Conference 2025
3rd Party Event
15 May 2025 09:00 - 15 May 2025 17:00
London, United Kingdom

The Spatial Data Science Conference 2025 was held in London, UK this year, and gathered over 400 Data Science, GIS & Analytics professionals.

The conference offered a mixture of presentations, panels and workshops, where we heard from a range of professionals shaping the future of Spatial Data Science. They covered a range of topics including AI Agents, interoperability, mobility, innovative data streams, and more.

EMERALDS at the event

Javier de la Torre, from our partners CARTO, presented “The Future Interface of Geography.”, where EMERALDS was mentioned. The keynote addressed the future of geospatial and the need to rebuild GIS for the agentic era. The talk also highlighted the need to break the GIS data silo with open table formats, native support for all spatial data types, and AI agents that make analysis more accessible.

Anita Graser, from AIT – the Austrian Institute of Technology – was also there, and gave a presentation on the integration of the Trajectory Analytics emerald into Carto Workflows. Her talk, Mobility Data Analytics for the Cloud: Introducing the Trajectory Analysis Extension, discussed how mobility data, once challenging to interpret due to its dynamic nature, is now being transformed through tools like MovingPandas. She highlighted its seamless integration into CARTO Workflows via the new Trajectory Analysis extension, enabling scalable, cloud-based analysis of movement patterns across diverse domains—from ecology to maritime shipping.
